By executing a rigorous, full-scale structural gut-renovation alongside a complete overhaul of all electrical and plumbing networks, our team successfully eliminated the perennial structural vulnerabilities of village houses—such as water leakage, inconsistent water pressure, and system aging. Upon this fortified foundation, we masterfully deployed a warm, majestic "Modern American Classic" aesthetic, elevating the rooftop into a high-emotional-value "Sunroom Studio." By seamlessly integrating the client’s laundry cycles, baking passions, and core storage assets directly into this sun-drenched conservatory, ordinary domestic labor and personal hobbies are beautifully reimagined into a therapeutic, resort-like ritual.
Case Study Overview:Situated along the scenic, low-density stretch of Hang Hau Road, Tseung Kwan O, this village house case study highlights the ultimate blend of architectural fortification and experiential design. The Cheung Hing engineering team executed a comprehensive structural gut-renovation—stripping out and completely rewiring and replumbing the entire residence, while laying down premium, weather-resistant waterproofing to shield the home against rural microclimates. Following this foundation work, our designer styled the canvas with a Warm Modern American Classic aesthetic, turning the estate into a comforting, high-design family sanctuary.
The Embrace of Warm Modern American Aesthetics:Moving away from the sterile, rigid divisions typical of old village layouts, the living and dining quarters utilize refined custom timber moldings, iconic American wainscoting, and an earthy, gentle color palette. Elevated by a warm, multi-layered lighting scheme, the space radiates an enveloping sense of security and relaxed luxury, relying on pure material integrity rather than loud ornamentation to mirror the client’s lifestyle.
Rooftop Alchemy: The Sun-Kissed Baking & Linen Glasshouse:The crowning masterwork of this residence is the revolutionary activation of its rooftop footprint. Capitalizing on the uninterrupted natural light, we engineered a sleek, custom-built rooftop glass conservatory (Sunroom Studio). We purposefully migrated the client's baking workshop, high-capacity storage reserves, and dedicated linen/laundry zones directly into this sun-drenched sanctuary. Whether it is the aroma of fresh pastries rising through the glass or the crisp feeling of linen drying in the fresh air, daily domestic routines and personal passions are now backdropped by panoramic skyward views—converting household chores into a therapeutic, resort-like ritual.
