Where Heritage Meets Safety: Elder-Friendly Renovation Filled with Memories
Located in Wing Ning Mansion, Kwun Tong, this project was masterfully tailored for a senior homeowner who treasures the deep emotional bonds within their home. For older generations, a house is more than just a living space—it is a vessel of lifetime memories. Therefore, rather than opting for a generic, blank-slate demolition, the Cheung Hing team placed "emotional preservation and ultimate safety" at the core of our design.
We meticulously preserved and integrated the client's original solid timber furniture into the new layout. By blending these cherished pieces with contemporary sensibilities, we successfully maintained the exact cozy, familiar atmosphere that the elderly owner has trusted for decades.
However, beneath the surface, we executed a rigorous structural overhaul. Addressing the vulnerabilities of an aging property, we completely rewired and repiped the entire flat's utilities to ensure long-term absolute safety. Furthermore, to address the practical pain points of senior living, we strategically integrated a series of elderly-friendly solutions, including seamless fall-prevention configurations, high-performance anti-slip flooring, and discreetly integrated safety handrails across critical high-risk zones like the bathroom and corridors.
This project is a testament to invisible, warm craftsmanship—on the outside, it remains the soulful, familiar home the client loves; on the inside, it has been revitalized into an uncompromisingly safe, barrier-free sanctuary.
