Case Study Overview: Yat Nga House in Po Nga Court, Tai Po, features the iconic Y3-type building design, highly celebrated as a "holy-grail layout" among designers in Hong Kong’s renovation market. With virtually no structural load-bearing walls inside the flat—except for the kitchen and bathroom perimeters—the interior partitions can be freely rearranged. Combined with an impressive efficiency rate of 75% - 80% and the absence of bulky bay windows, a 400+ sq. ft. Y3 flat easily delivers the spatial experience of a modern 500+ sq. ft. private apartment.

Taking advantage of the Y3 structure to dismantle interior walls, flooding the space with natural light.
The homeowners of this project have both a lively child and a beloved pet. To provide them with the ultimate freedom to run and play without constraints, the Cheung Hing team maximized the Y3 footprint to create an expansive, sun-drenched sanctuary wrapped in a warm solid timber aesthetic.

To clear the floor completely for family activities without sacrificing utility, we utilized smart verticality and multi-functional styling:
Vertical Wall Integration: Appliances and daily functions were seamlessly embedded into the vertical wall spaces, leaving the floor entirely unobstructed.Multi-
Purpose Storage Platforms: We introduced bespoke platform elements that serve as elevated play/relaxation zones for the family while housing massive hidden storage capacity underneath.
Utilizing vertical dimensions and smart platforms to keep the floor spacious and clean.

Through this revitalization, the flat’s sense of space and natural light have reached an absolute ideal state. More importantly, underneath this beautiful new look, we completely overhauled the 37-year-old piping and electrical wiring, ensuring that this boundless paradise for the child and pet is built on an uncompromising foundation of long-term safety.
